Dog River Dam & Reservoir Expansion – Douglasville, GA
Ámbito de Trabajo:
AIS Infrastructure is delivering the Dog River Dam and Reservoir Expansion, a large-scale water infrastructure project that will significantly increase water capacity and long-term supply for the Douglasville community. This $177M+ project, executed in partnership with the Douglasville Water & Sewer Authority, will expand the reservoir from 1.5 billion to 6.5 billion gallons and raise the dam by more than 35 feet.
The project involves extensive site development and heavy civil construction, including clearing over 120 acres of land, large-scale earthwork, and construction of multiple earthen embankments reaching up to 110 feet in height. Key components include a new 200-foot-wide reinforced concrete spillway with a labyrinth weir, a highway-rated bridge, roller compacted concrete gravity structures, and installation of advanced drainage and instrumentation systems.
AIS Infrastructure is managing complex construction operations involving significant rock excavation, blasting, and placement of nearly 2 million cubic yards of embankment material. The team is also executing specialized foundation work, including cutoff walls, grout curtains, and soil stabilization, ensuring long-term structural integrity and performance.
This project highlights AIS Infrastructure’s expertise in large-scale dam construction, water resource management, and complex earthwork operations. Once complete, the expanded reservoir will play a critical role in supporting regional growth, improving water reliability, and strengthening infrastructure resilience for decades to come.
