POSITION SUMMARY

The GPS Manager will play a significant role ensuring timely and efficient delivery, support and maintenance of GPS Equipment needed to keep production in the field at the highest level possible. Conduct land surveys and GPS file construction to determine precise location and
measurements of points, elevations, grades, lines, areas, quantities, and contours for earthwork projects such as civil site development.

Employee’s Duties will include but not be limited to:

REQUIREMENTS:

Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Serves as the main point of contact for all GPS & Machine Control needs.
  • Develop and maintain GPS Equipment maintenance program.
  • Using Topcon GPS equipment calculates dimensions, locations and quantities of material, such

    as dirt, borrow, aggregate, and other construction materials to produce information for

    construction planning.

  • Assist in development of GPS Equipment budgets.
  • Monitor and adhere to the establish budgets.
  • Assist in preparing purchase orders and contracts for departmental needs.
  • Assigns GPS equipment to company projects. Routinely monitors whereabouts and condition of

    GPS equipment. Initiates maintenance and repair procedures on GPS hardware and software as

    needed.

  • Ensure field crews are maintaining GPS Equipment while located at the jobsites.
  • Handle department vendor and subcontractor invoices.
  • Inventory of all departmental assets.
  • Make periodic site visits to assure the departmental assets are running properly.
  • Make recommendations on GPS Equipment to ensure productivity and costs are controlled.
  • Implement and manage a comprehensive GPS Machine Control Training program.
  • Detailed knowledge of Trimble and Topcon GPS systems a must.
  • Ability to Create & Provide GPS models preferred but not required
  • Job will require travel to jobsites as required to support the field operations

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering (Preferred)
  • 5+ years’ experience working with Topcon or equivalent GPS equipment
  • Presentation and negotiation skills
  • Action oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, etc.)
  • Positive attitude
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS

    • This position requires working in an internal (office) and external (field) environment.
    • Working conditions outdoors range from frigid to hot temps, high winds, flying dust, slipping

      hazards and conditions and frequently exposed to loud noise from heavy equipment and

      machinery.

    • Communication typically occurs through face-to-face interaction, as well as via e-mail,

      telephone and written correspondence. This job also requires the ability to use other office

      equipment such as copier, fax machine, etc.

    • Occasionally travel to meetings throughout the office and at other company office sites and

      client locations.

    • Constantly work in a team environment, effectively and efficiently achieving goals, improving

      processes and resolving problems.

    • This position requires a flexible work schedule; night and/or weekends may be required.

      PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

      • Requires considerable concentration and focus. It is subject to stress caused by a changing environment, diversity in the organization, tight deadlines and workload.
      • Normal concentration/intensity, which includes prolonged mental effort.
      • Normal memory, taking into consideration the amount and type of information.

      • Normal physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job taking
